Something is going on with my lil sweetheart! He is five months old and was sleeping through the night at about 3 months... We would lay down at 8:30 or 9 pm and he would sleep until at least 6 am. Now, all of a sudden, he is waking up all through the night... sort of. He just sort of cries a little with his eyes closed, and nothing will soothe him except a bottle. I've tried to just sort of pat his back or lay him on me for a minute, which used to work wonders if he did the half wake up thing. Now nothing works except a bottle. I know it isn't hunger waking him because he eats plenty of formula during the day and gets solids twice a day. Also, if I let him go from half awake to all the way awake it takes me forever to get him back to sleep! I just don't know what happened to our peaceful sleep cycle that we had going... He is teething but it doesn't seem to bother him too much during the day. Any ideas ladies?

What about a pacifier? Is it the sucking that he wants? Or is it the comfort of eating? Could he be going through a growth spurt? That could cause him to get hungry during the night.

I tried a pacifier last night, he's never liked them and last night I was desperate... He got so mad! He wasn't fully awake, just fussing and whining so I stuck it in his mouth and he instantly opened his eyes and started screaming! I'm pretty sure it's just the comfort sucking he wants to help him get back to sleep.... I just don't know what to do! Thanks for the suggestions Beccah :)

Try switching the nipple to a stage one. On those vent air bottles the stage one takes forever to finish. Ellie does the same thing and if she's not hungry we give her the stage one and she falls asleep before finishing the bottle.

The only time my little guy has woken up in the middle of the night is because he had an ear infection. Does your son have a cold at all?

No problem! I try to help where I can. :-) Let us know how Brody does tonight... I hope you can get some sleep.
