Hi, I noticed on another thread that you are a supervisor for a medical transcription company. I am currently taking a course for medical office assistant. I would really like to know how to get started doing the transcription part of the job. I would love to be able to stay at home with my little one for awhile. I do live in Ontario, Canada. Is there any way you can help me get started? Not too sure where to go from here. :) Tamara

Hi Tamara! I got into this about 3 years ago with a nursing background (no transcription background at all), so if you have any medical experience, sometimes companies are willing to take that. Otherwise, they typically like for you to go through training specifically aimed at transcription... although its possible they will accept the training you will get with your course, it all depends on the company. And if not, there are training programs online, such as w.w.w.careerstep.com. There are internet companies in Canada, and some here in the US will hire from Canada too (I know my company has) And here is a really good MT website that has job listings, chat, forum, tips and all that fun stuff that might give you a little more information - its w.w.w.MTstars.com. I love it and recommend it - I don't see myself doing anything else for a while anyway lol.

Thanks so much Crissy. I will check that out. O would love to do this if I can. I never got to stay home with my two girls and would love to do this and stay home longer with my son. Thanks again. I will check into this. Take care :)Tamara
