Is it ear wax?

It could be ear wax or a minor ear infection. She is still young so maybe shes still adjusting to life outside of the womb.

a ruptured ear drum can cause crust like that, but the child will be EXTREMELY fussy from the ear pain

If it's inside her ear, it's probably ear wax. I'm amazed at the amount of ear wax my lo creates. If you don't clean it regularly, it'll get crusty. My lo also gets stuff behind his ears because it stays moist back there. If you don't catch it right away, it'll get raw & infected which will also become crusty. Gotta wash and dry often behind the ears (just like necks and armpits).

it is on the outside, like, her earlobe... looks like earwax... but i have tried cleaning and drying it since like, friday, and it seems just to come back?

Sounds like a build-up of sebum, which is what also causes cradle cap. My son is a week younger than your dd and gets this behind his ear, and sometimes on his eyebrows. I just pick it away and that takes care of it. Her skin is probably just figuring out how it's supposed to work, and unless its inside her ear it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

she gets dry skin patches on her eyebrows too... but when i pick the stuff on her ear, it comes back an hour or so later... i tried putting rubbing alcohol on it (thats what i do when my ear piercings get infected- which seems like the same crust that's on her ear)... that helps a bit, then the next day its there again!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the rubbing alchohol is making it worse. It may be making her skin too dry, causing it to produce too many oils to compensate. I would just wash with some baby soap and warm water. It should go away soon.

yea, i guess ill just clean it a lot... thanks!
