I know this is already on here some where but I thought I would ask again instead of going through the many pages and looking for the previous one. My dd is 6 months old and I want to start using regular detergent so I dont' have to buy 2 separate ones (trying to save some $$) but if I do that can I use softner so the clothes are not staticy and itchy??

My ds is almost 11 months and I have never used a softener yet...

jwhite: I have allergies to dyes and fragrances so I use Costco brand FREE detergent, Downy FREE softener... and Bounce FREE dryer sheets --- I also use those on my DD's clothes as well and have never had a problem. They are all hypoallergenic so people with sensitive skin can use them. I have also used ALL Free Detergent as well. I switched to the Costco brand because Costco stopped carrying All Free. Good luck.

I have slowly transitioning my dd (she is now 6.5 months) into regular detergant & with that I have been using regular softner. She does have sensitive skin, but the change hasn't been a problem for her.

I have been using regular detergent with both of my children since they were 6 months old. They never had a problem. However their are even adults that have sensitive skin that cannot use alot of detergents and everything has to be dye free and odor free.
