Development Of 8 Month Old

My son turned 8 months old on January 10th, and unlike many of my friends' babies, he is not sitting up, not rolling over, not pulling himself up, not holding his own bottle, he's pretty much still a little 2 month old. I was wondering what everyone on here thought about this. Is he developing normally, and just taking his time? Or should I get him examined by a doctor? Thank you!

He is probably fine. If it does worry you then you should possibly just ask his doc at his 9 month appointment.

Hi Mandi, if something were horribly wrong, wouldn't your dr have noticed? At Billy's 4 month, I noticed the Dr put him on his belly to see what he did. She asked if he rolled over yet (he hadn't) and stuff like that. Did your Dr do any of that? Are you sure he is acting like a 2 month old? What about his babbling/ vocal skills and personality?

He is REALLy into yelling. haha It's cute though. Lots of yelling, oooo, and ahhh. When he's in his Exersaucer, he has just figured out he can bounce up and down, so he's doing that and working his legs. He loves to smile, and he has the cutest laugh (when you get him to, he's stubborn), and he's definitely going through a bit of seperation anxiety because he doesn't like anyone but daddy and I. Even Gramma... he starts crying/whining and would rather me hold me.

It looks like his emotional development is excelling!! Sometimes a baby will advance in one area of development and will advance in the other areas of development, like physical...and social a little later..like the ladies said, if his dr. isn't saying anything, then more than likely he's just fine. Normal is a very broad spectrum, so I'd just keep watching him. Is he a big baby?

I'd definitely bring it up to the Dr, but for your peace of mind. I bet he is fine. Sometimes I watch tapes of my friend's baby and count how old my son is compared to her daughter... It gets me nervous and I start to think "She did THAT at her age?" It's horrible. Boys have a tendency to develop a little slower, too. Ya, emotionally, he sounds great!

www.xanga.com/pieces_of_mandi there's very recent pictures of him on there... and yes, everyone says he's a big baby...he's got to be 22-25 lbs...that's my guess.
