should i take him in or just give it another day to see if it is just a virus. i would hate to take him in and them just tell me it's a virus.

How old is he?? If it is just a couple of runny diapers a day, I am sure it will run its corse and he will be fine. But, if it is happening constantly and for 3 days he needs to be seen. You can give him pedialite to help him stay hydrated.

I am dealing w/the same thing although my dd (7 mo) just had the Roseola Virus. I found a great website for this kind of thing... askdrsears dot com. I love it...pull up diarrhea and it gives you really good info. Try the BRAT diet...Bananas, Rice cereal, applesauce and Toast (if old enough). Also, I am thinking about swiching to a soy formula for 2 weeks. My dd has had moderate diarrhea for about 5 days and not acting sick, but Dr. Sears says that after diarrhea the intestines have a hard time processing milk protein so soy will give the intestines a break and give them time to heal. I love the Dr. Sears website...it has been a wealth of info for me all in one place... Good luck.

he is 11.5 months, it started sunday night just before bed and we thought it was from the pumpkin pie we gave him. Well Mon was all daiherra about 5 bouts 2 big ones and the rest were small ones but yesterday he again had 5 bouts 2 big ones and the rest small ones. it has been 3 bouts in the am one mid afternoom and one just before bed. he is drinking lots of water all day. He has been on cow's milk for 2 weeks so maybe i will get soy milk ( that so good stuff) and see how that goes.

so should they even have milk when they have the runs? what do you do then, they need their milk and calories.

If you just started cow's milk maybe he is allergic or lactose intolerant...you should probably speak w/your ped or nurse about it. Has it gotten any better?

yesterday was the same, some smaller ones but a few big ones. We had started cow's milk right at 11 months so it's ben a couple of weeks. He was doing great with it, it was about 1 week before this that he was on straight cow's milk in the am and formula for bedtime. I figured he would of had a reaction sooner if it was the milk?
