k my ds is having trouble with staying asleep at night lately and i have had it, i'm so exausted! this is my situation: i put ds ( 4.5 months) down for bedtime at 8 ( no later) 2 hrs after he woke from his last nap. we do our bedtime routine adn i give him a bottle ( 8oz) and he goes to sleep no problem. then always at 1 hr he wakes like it was a nap, soemtimes i can give him a soother and he will go right back to sleep other times he won't unless he is fed again. he always seems to eat about 30 before bed daily, so that is consistant. last night he woke at 9, gave him his soother, woke around 11, gave him his soother. Woke at 1:50 i fed him 8oz and was back in bed at 2:30. well it's 5:50 and he is up crying again ( 3hrs). why is he waking so much this has been going on for over a week now! I am tired of caving in and feeding him every time as he shouldn't be needing food that much at nigth and i don't want him developing the habit! LAst night wasn't too bad, a few wakes befre 11 and then was down for 7 hrs unitl 4:30 to eat and then slept till 7. We have always had 7 as our wakeup time, and i know he techinacally can last 1 more hr! why is he screaming for food already? he had a growth spurt 2 weeks ago. I don't want to get into the habit of feeding him 1 hr before wake up time as it messes up the whole day and if he goes back to sleep it's only for 1 hr after and that's if he goes back to sleep. SO i went in his room, gave him his soother and he cried hysterically, i picked him up and changed his bum, he calmed down adn once i put him back in his crib he was hysterical again! I told him it's not time to eat, it's bedtime good night. I walked out. it's been 30 min and he is still screaming am i doing the right thing or should i just go in and fee him at this time? i just don't know what to do as he used to sleep with only one feed before and startd to sleep through before this started happening. so i know his tummy is capable of going more then 3 hrs with out food at night. what do you think i should do, feed him at this time or let him cry and learn that it's not time to eat and he'll eat in 1 hr at 7 for breakfast.

well at 6:45 i couldn't take it anymore and i went in and tried to soothe him. i picked him up until he calmed down he was so hysterical. once he was calm iput him back down and he started again, now it's 7 and it just went quiet? if he fell asleep should i let him sleep or should i go in a start his day with him?

well i just heard 3 sneezes and amoan so i guess he is up now, it's 7:55. and he's not screaming, i hear talking! that's the wake up's that i remember, he used to wake so happy before talking and smiling adn since he does these wake us at night he just wakes screaming. so maybe i did do the right thing?

I can't really help. I just nurse Marcy when she gets up. However she usually goes to sleep and stays asleep for several hours. She is 9 mos and still gets up to eat at night. she only gets up once though and lately she has gottne up at 4 to eat nd then is ready to go back down till 7 or 8. Maybe his last nap of the day is too close to bed time. My dd never took a nap that close to bed time. I did the same wiht Mary as I do with Marcy, She is a really good sleeper. both go to bed on thier own. I sorta used the CIO method at first but only if they were softly crying or fussing. if they screamed, I couldn't take it and went and got them up.....

well when he woke up he was happy ( TG) and i got his bottle ready and he only ended up eating 3 oz's! go figure! Well if he doesn't have a nap between 5 and 6 then he's up way too long, right? HIs nap before that, he's waake around 3, so to go from 3 till 7 or 8 is way too long and he will get overtired. am i right or is it just my thinking? i didn't think the at this age they are arn't supposed to be up longer the 2-2.5 hrs?max most still us the 1.5 - 2 hrs don't they?
