My dd is 2 weeks shy of 4 months and she is teeting and she doesn't eat that much at all lately. What can I do? Instead of eating she just wants to chew on the nipple.

My dd eats more I think when she is teething.. well its hard to tell b/c she is b___stfed but she is on and off the b___bs all day eating in smal amounts. I think she likes the chewing/gumming the nipples part as well as all the oral stimulation. Just keep othering it - she won't let hereself starve.

Yes, all 3 of my babies have eaten less when they were teething. My dd is teething now and she is refusing to finish all her bottles.

My dd has had maybe 3 oz all day.

Mrs. Ireland 3 oz. is not enough. Does she eat cereal yet? If so maybe try to get her to eat some cereal, sometimes the sucking creates pain from all the pressure and rubbing on thier gums and they will not want to suck. Maybe she is sick with the flu or something too. If she doesn't eat better soon I would call and let her Dr. know. Babies can become dehydrated easily.

Well she does drink her juice and water so she is getting her liquids. I put a call into her doctor this morning.

Water, juice and cereal is not giving her enough calories and nutrients. She needs that from b'milk or formula, especially at 4 months. She may be filling up on those things and that's why she isn't eating as much. Maybe try smaller amounts more frequently as it will be easier for her to handle if she is hurting b/c of her teeth.
