hi ladies; i've read so many different things about feeding babies meat and fish - my son is 7 months old - what meats would you suggest and what should i avoid? i.e. - should i stay away from giving him fish and until when? some sites that i've visited have said wait on the fish until after the first year but then i've read in other places that fish can be introduced... any suggestions? thanks!

Fish is fine just be careful of bones, try meat from a roast... shred it tiny and it should be fine.....beef, lamb, etc.. if u do steaks puree them still......... all meat is fine that i know of just with sausages they say to cut off the skin... will leave room for someone else, take care

The only thing that my PED said about first was to steer away from canned albacore tuna fish and any other fish that contains mercury. She said once kids are about 5 then you can let em have 6oz a week

I'm sure you know this but make sure all meat is well cooked. My coworkers daughter got ecoli bacteria from a restaurant years ago when she was about 2 years old. She has had major health problems and was not expected to make it this far but I am glad to report she will be heading off to college this fall. My coworker has made it her life's mission to keep parents informed. My dd is only 5 months so she wont have any meat until after her 1st birthday.
