Hi, For formuls fed babies I'm wondering how much your lo's eat and how often. I know it varies but i am curious about other peoples schedules. My ds is 3 months, he is starting to drink 7oz easily. i am feeding him every 4 hours, from about 7 am until 9 or 10 pm. I am thinking that this might be too much fomula for him. I'm not sure. I thought I read that 32 oz was normal for a day of feeding. Please help!!!!!!!

Hi Ronni, I think it's fine. My pedi said if he's hungry, feed him. Sounds like he's almost ready for solids. I started Christian on the rice cereal at 3 & 1/2 months since he's a little piggy! ;)

Ronni don't worry all babies eat different amounts. 32oz at 3 months is pretty good. He is propbably eating in line with his weight. My dd is 6 months and the most formula she ate was 28 to 30 oz no matter how much or how often I fed her, she is 15lbs at 6 months. Your doctor will let you know if he is eating too much. He may be ready for solids at 4 months and at that time their formula intake decreases a little bit as solids are introduced. Some babies eat up to 40 oz a day.

According to several baby books they will eat more and more and level off at 40 oz by the 4th month. Of course, every baby is different - but this is just a guideline... Mine averages 34 and he is 3 1/2 months. He eats 6-7 oz ever 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
