Frustrated Amp Throwing Her Toys Advice Please

My dd is 14 months old and recently has been showing a lot of frustration if her toys don't 'do' what she wants them to. For example... this morning she was stacking her blocks but got very frustrated and angry if a block would fall off. She gritted her teeth and started biting the block and crying. She tried again and the block fell off, so she got very angry again biting it and crying whilst putting her head on the floor and threw the block away. I told her, 'no...we don't throw our toys' and took the blocks away from her. She didn't have a tantrum when I took them from her. Was this the right thing to do? Or should I have gotten on the floor with her and told her to calm down and help her stack the blocks instead? I am very surprised by her level of frustration and anger at not being able to do something. Have any of you experienced something similar with your lo?

Not yet although my ds is only 14 weeks old. Maybe it's just a normal thing for babies that age. I have heard of kids doing it before. I wouldn't worry though.

My dd is 13 mos and has a temper out of this world. I know exactly what you mean. I try to get down to her level and show her to do it, then it she continues to be frustrated and throw stuff, I take them away or ignore her- depending on the situation. My dd is really into books right now and wont' touch her toys. She loves the "flip the flap" books that you can open the flaps inside and see what is underneath.... anyway- she gets mad if they won't stay open, or when they are new and she can't get it open. She hits the book and yells. I think we are going to have our hands full!!! :)
