Giving Baby Cereal

My dd is 7 weeks old and I need togive her cereal in her bottle at night because she is waking up every 2 hours at night to eat. If you have done this before can you tell me how much rice cereal and how much bottle of formula.

We had to do this for my dd's reflux, and we were told 1 tsp per ounce of formula. I have heard from other Mom's that did it to help with sleep issues that sometimes it doesn't help. Be careful...that small amount I used constipated my little one :-(

it doesn't help for sleeping only for reflux problems. She is waking up because she is hungry. Sorry you will just have to wait it out until she is able to consume more food at each feeding and have longer in between times.

I felt the same way when my ds was 7 weeks but it did not work for sleeping. I only gave mine 2 tbsp with 5 ounces of formula. After a couple of days on it my ds was very constipated so you can be forwarned. There stomachs are just so small and they need to eat often when they are so little.

My Dr. recommended us to use cereal because his formula is too thin and he sucks it too fast and it chokes him! I used rice cereal and would use about a tspoon in four oz of formula.....but be careful the rice cereal can make then constipated! Now I have had to switch to Barley Cereal (helps him poop!)
