My dd was diagnosed with it today. She has had a cold (runny nose) for about a week. Somedays it seems it's getting better but I took her back to the ped. today because now she has a cough. I was given an inhaler to use every four hours for the next four days. I also have the humidifier going and am using the saline drops. Though she hates it, once I get suction her nose she seems like she feels much better and starts playing again. How old was your son.daugher when they got it? How long did it last? Any advice? Thanks!!!

My last son had it when he was only a couple of months old. It was close to a month before ALL of the symptoms (cough, congestion, etc.) were gone. I am curious..is it a nebulizer that you were given? A nebulizer is a machine which attaches to a tube and cup in which you put vials of medication (perhaps xopenex or pulmicort) and when you turn it on baby inhales the vapors. I was just wondering as my 3 year old son has asthma and his doctor has never given him an inhaler (which has med already in it and has to be inhaled as it is pumped) because he is too little to deliberately inhale as you have to with the inhaler. It sounds like you are doing everything possible to make your dd feel better as quickly as possible. Plenty of clear fluids help keep the mucus thinned out, too.

My ped says it is a mild case so we were not given a nebuliizer. The inlaer has the aerochamber where the medicene is pumped and has a mask on the end with this little thing that vibrates so you can make sure the meds are being inhaled.

wow, I've never heard of that.(one of the downfalls of living in No-whereville) I wonder if it is available for those with chronic asthma? I'll have to ask my ped about it. Neb treatments take forever!

My son had it at 4months. Unfortunately it put him in the hospital. I was very worried that he might have asthma, but so far nothing else has affected him. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I think it only lasted a couple of weeks.

Thanks ladies. Rabbits07 I will get the name of the device when I get home tonight and give it to you so you can ask your doctor.

That's crazy, my son was diagnosed with it a week ago. He is currently 5 months. His case was so bad, he started wheezing. At first I thought it was a cold, but it became worse. His ped put him on breathing treatments. He is better, no more wheezing, but he still coughs.
