Have You Taken Your Baby To The Movies

First of all let me explain that I would never take my baby to an adult movie. I have been in there when a little one is screaming and I feel bad for the baby and the rest of the folks trying to watch the movie. Anyways our local theater is having a kids movie day and showing a kids movie. These shows are geared for the little little ones and most of the kids there will be toddlers. I would love to take my dd who is 5 months old and see how she reacts. She loves her videos that she watches on a 62" t.v. at her babysitters house LOL. Anyways, the ped. said it is ok volume wise. I was just wondering if you have taken your babies to a movie? If so...what was the experience like? How did he/she react.

I havent taken my baby to the movies yet, but she is only 2 months old, I would though if she was five months old and liked videos, what do you have to loose? You can try it and if she doesnt like it you can leave, it might be a fun activity for the two of you to share!

I don't think it's a good idea for several reasons. First a 5 month old does not have the attention span to sit through more than maybe a half hour, you'll be lucky if you get that. Second, children can be very rowdy, if your baby has not been exposed to older children jumping around, it's possible it could frighten her. The first time my LO was exposed to many children running around was at a BBQ, she freaked and screamed for a whole hour, so we just left. Usually when one cries they all start crying. I guess you could try it like Heather F said, but personally I wouldn't even try it until my LO was at least 2 years old.

I took my last son when he was around 7 months old. This was an all childrens occa__sion as well. The experience for us was fine until he decided he was ready to eat and then he was trying to get into my blouse (b___stfed baby--obviously) I had to take him out and feed him and once we went back in he really didn't seem that interested. I think it was just too long for his attention span. My other children were there too, so me and baby had to wait it out in the lobby which wasn't exactly fun. I would go ahead and give it a try if I were you. If she can't make it through the whole movie you can always leave.

pbj mentioned the rowdy children thing. My ds had 4 older brothers and sisters so he was used to it. Also, though children can be that way the children at the theater where we were at were all pretty well behaved--perhaps because they were focused on the movie, whereas at a BBQ there's not much to do but run and play.

Thanks ladies! I guess I should have mentioned in my original post that my little one is the boss so whenever she is ready to go we will go (even if that's 2 minutes into the movie) LOL!!! She is used to being around rowdy little ones...I have 4 nephews LOL!!!
