Heat Rash

What does heat rash look like? My baby woke up this morning and on her back it is red and bumpy (tiny bumps) She is acting fine, No fever. And even though it is still there it does not look as "all over" as it did when she woke up. She sleeps on her back, so I was wondering if it could be heat rash? Thanks for any info!!

Sounds like heat rash...especially if it seems to be disappearing since she is up. My ds has been breaking out alot around his neck and in the bends of his legs from the heat during the day when we go out somewhere, but as he cools down it begins to fade.

It has not disappeared it just does not look as bad. (if that makes sense) I am gonna give her a cool bath and see if it helps. Is this something that takes days to go away or should it be gone today? I was gonna call the doctors office when they open, just to be safe.

Heat rash usually disappears within a few hours if the cause of it is gone. It tends to fade gradually. If your lo's was caused by her sleeping on her back and sweating, don't be suprised if she wakes up with it again tomorrow. My ds also gets it sometimes on his belly when I have him against me to nurse, but it always disappears.

sounds exactly like a heat rash...is she has no fever, is drinking fine, and acting fine..I am sure that is all it is. Babies get so many darn rashes from everything....it can be scary, but 99% are harmless.

It could also be a reaction to the laundry detergent or fabric softener. My daughter had a similar reaction...only seen where the clothes hit the most. I rewashed her clothes and could see it getting better within a day.

Hi TinaMarie: I agree with you and the other ladies, sounds like it could definitely be heat rash. Are your nursing? If so, try expressing some b___st milk in a little bowl and soak a cotton ball with it. Rub it on her back and let it air dry (like a toner). Here is the article from Mothering Magazine, where I go this information: http://www.mothering.com/articles/new_baby/b___stfeeding/walking-medicine-chest.html...................Also, check out the link "More ways to use b___st milk". It's just fascinating!

Rabbits: That's just what I said! My sister in law said her pediatrician has instructed her to try it on ANYTHING - she rubs it everywhere and gives it as nose, ears, and eye drops whenever a problem comes up. It reportedly works like a charm!

Hi! Thank you all for the info! I took her to the docs and they said it looked more like "shirt rash" because it was all over her back. Weird because I have not changed detergents, etc. But she did sleep in only a diaper last night because it was so hot. So maybe it had something to with that, and the sheets. I do not know. It does look alot better though. Thank you so much for all the answers.

My baby has been getting this lately because of the hot weather, have been letting her sleep in just a diaper.
