Help With Babyproofing

I have almost everything figured out so that my house is completely safe for my ds except the dog and cat bowls. They need to be down so they can get water whenever they need it, but my son loves to play with them and bang them on the ground. I have switched from ceramic bowls to plastic just in case one broke but he just dumps everything out as soon as he gets a chance!! Any ideas??? Oh, my kitchen is VERY open to the living room so a gate will not work.

You could get one of those automatic feeders/waterers that only releases food or water when the animal presses it's nose against it....I don't know how old your little one is though, if he's older he might be able to figure that one out pretty quick. You may just have to move your pets feeding dishes into a room that can be gated off I guess...

move trhe food into another room that you can put the baby gate up, like a bedroom or bathroom
