Holding Bottle Question

My dd is 6.5 mos and I'm trying to encourage her to grasp her bottle and sippy cup. Does anyone have any recommendations on helping lo with this? She currently grabs at them and will hold for a 1/2 second. Thanks in advance.

Mine didnt start this untill he was around 8 months. So i wouldnt worry. I think i laid him down and put the bottle on the floor next to him and watched him work it himself.

I'll keep trying then, but not worry. I just met up with my friend today (haven't seen her in months, as she lives in Nebraska) and her lo was holding no problem and he's just a bit younger than my dd.... and I started wondering if I was behind on teaching my dd.

I didn't really do anything specifically that pushed my dd to hold hers, she sort of began on her own. When she became good at it was when she started eating solids on a regular basis (around 5 1/2 months) and I was only giving her a few oz. of formula in a 4 oz. bottle in the morning. I would put her in her papasan seat & she would just go to town on that bottle because it was so light. At seven months, she can hold her 8 oz. bottle & prefers to... she's little miss independant. My nephew, on the other hand, loves to have everything done for him. He's eleven months old & still doesn't care to feed himself. He'll hold it for a second & drop it. Sorry I'm not much help.

My baby girl is about to turn 6 months and doesn't hold her bottle yet though places one hand on it as she drinks! WIth her spippy cup she will hold it if you place it into her hands and brings it up to her mouth to touch her lips then drops it again. It's great your DD will hold them briefly I'm sure she'll start to hold them soon enough :-)
