How Do I Get Him To Sleep In His Crib

My ds is almost 6 months old & will not sleep in his crib (or anywhere where he has to actually lay down for that matter). He has never been a good sleeper & his swing is the only place that we have ever had any luck getting him to sleep for any extended amount of time. However, I know that he can't always sleep in his swing & we have been trying to lay him in his crib, but as soon as I lay him down he wakes up crying! What do I do? How do I get him to stay alseep (or sleep at all) in his crib? Thanks!

I let my 2 month old cry for just a few minutes, then go in and try to soothe him. I first try giving him a pacifier and patting him. If that doesn't work, I hold him until his eyes start drooping again, and then put him back down. This only works some of the time though, and I end up holding him while he sleeps sometimes. We don't have many problems at night with the crib... only during daytime naps. I'd love to hear what others have to say about this!
