How Do You Feed Them When You Re Out

Feeding Nadya when we're out and about has been easy until now. I used to just take a couple of sterilized bottles and 2 of those ready made cartons. Easy! But now she's on solids, what do I do? She gets in such a mess every time I feed her, and of course she has to grab the spoon herself and have a go, which is always a disaster. Add to that, that nearly all baby food is orange (Why?) and stains really easily. So how do you do it? Come to think of it, I never noticed anyone feeding their baby solids when I go out, so do they just not go out or what? Help!

instead...of buying the baby food...you can make it....if you could make her mash potatoes with chicken(i dont know how old she is) then it wouldnt stain and it would be much more convenient. I did that with my kids or if i knew i coudnt heat it up..i would just bring the jared fruits with me. it would still fill her up and its easy

Hi Lissi! I've actually found it easier to feed dd solids that just a bottle when we're out! I think the best thing to do is just buy the biggest bib you can find for Nadya and make sure to pack plenty of baby wipes! ;-) Does she fuss if you don't let her try to feed herself? Maybe bring along some fruit puffs or other finger snacks to let her feed herself, if she eats that kind of stuff yet. Does she like bananas? That's what I always bring with us to feed dd because it won't stain! Good luck! =)

*I meant baby food bananas, not regular ones!*

Thanks ladies! Some good suggestions. Karine-She's 6 months and 3 weeks, but fairly new to solids. She's still manily on formula. Mash sounds like a good one, although I'm sure the little monkey will still rub it all into her hair! :-D TRP- Hi there! I haven't tried finger foods yet, I don't think she's advanced enough for them. I'm so afraid she'll choke! I've been looking for those fruit puffs people keep talking about, but I don't think they're available in the UK. I wish they were, because they sound great! Bananas though? She loves them. Actually, that's a brilliant idea too, because it needs no preparation. I can just take a banana and a bowl with me, and mash it up for her to eat. Yes, she does fuss if she doesn't get to hold the spoon for a while, and she ends up with food in her ears, hair eyes, you name it! :-D

Lol Lissi! Ya know, I was really scared to give Haylee finger foods too, but the fruit puffs dissolve very quickly. I wish you had them there in the UK. They're great, for babies! My hubby likes to snack on them too, but I think they taste gross! Anyway, if it were me and Haylee was always putting food in her hair, ears, etc., I would just hold the bowl out of her reach and try to feed her fast, not too fast, but as fast as possible, so she doesn't make a scene! I don't know what else to say, but I hope you can figure something out! =)

If I bring food, it's always bananas or yogurt. Then I let him eat finger food that isn't messy. Also, he can eat a lot of stuff that I'm eating too so I always try to order something we can share.
