How Fast Does Your Lo Eat

Ok so today my daycare lady called me at work today to tell me that she thinks ds eats abnormally slow and that I should check with the pedi to make sure he is using his toung correctly. I don't think he has ever had any trouble eating (6months and 20lbs) and she has only been watching him since last monday and he has been sick since last Friday so he is not really himself. Also she said she thinks we should maybe switch him to the premixed formula has anyone else had any experiences with the premixed formula.

Why switch? Did she say what the benefit would be?

sounds like she might think it's more convenient for HER. is she mixing the powder for him herself? i'm really not understanding this woman at all. i think if there were a problem w/ how fast he eats you would have noticed it. i'm sure he's fine.

I would say your childcare provider is lazy and doesn't want to mix power . The fact that your son drinks slow is a problem for her cause she doesn't want to take the time to hold him for a long as it takes him /her to take a bottle. If you feel there is a need to switch to a stage 2 nipple instead on a1 if you are using one. Otherwize I would do what gives you the most peace.

How slowly does he eat? One of my dds will suck back a bottle in less than 15 mintues and the other one will take about 20 min. This is a new development. About a month ago the slower eater would take about 45 minutes with lots of breaks. Maybe this daycare lady is just impatient.

We are using the stage 2 nipples already and he seemed to be fine for me. WHen she called me today she said he took 26 minutes to eat 3oz but everytime he eats really slow like that I always chalked it up to he not being very hungry. Am I nuts or should I be worried? I was kind of thinking maybe she wanted the premixed formula for convience too

and no she never said what the benifit would be she just mentioned she thought he would be happier but he is not a miserable baby or anything just has his crabby times now and then

so eating that slow isn't normal for him? if not, i'd just tell her the next time he seems to be taking too long to have her stop feeding him until later and see if he eats faster next time. i would hold off on going to the dr or even worrying too much about it. honestly it sounds like the daycare provider is being a bit impatient. i would also tell her not to call you at work unless there is an actual emergency. i HATE it when my sitter calls for little stuff throughout the day. when i see her name on the caller id, my heart about beats out of my chest. i actually hung up on a customer my first week back because i just knew something horrible had happened, but she just wanted to ask me if naomi had already pooped that day.

JillianT I know exactally what you are saying when you say your heart beats our of your chest when you see her number mine does too. She has called me several time at work and I guess I am glad she is asking me questions and letting me know stuff but can't these things wait until I see her in person when I drop him off or let my dh know when he pick ds up. I don't think she has really gotten a good feel for my ds because he was at daycare a total of 3 days before he got sick. It just makes me nervouse and makes me wish I could stay home even more. I just worry about him during the day
