How Many 7 8 Mo Olds Are On 3 Bottles A Day

Just wondering how many babes are on 3 bottles a day instead of 4? I give dd 4 a day- 6oz each, but she only drinks 4-5oz of each bottle. It has gotten so frustrating and I have changed her schedule a couple times trying to have her drink more but its always the same. If I change to 3 botlles i'm not sure she could go 5-6 hours w/out a little formula though. How do I do it and is it time???? Or do I just leave it alone? She weighs 15lbs 12oz and has gained a lb since last month at her 6 mo check up so I think that is good....a lb a month right? Thanks for any input....btw my dd is 7mo old.

Alida, my dd is 15 pounds 4 oz at 7 months. She drinks 3 bottles a day. morning bottle is 6-7 oz, afternoon bottle is 5 oz and night bottle is 7.5 oz. I want to increase the afternoon amount but no luck. She is a small baby. I guess you can try the three bottles one day and see how it goes.

My ds is 7 1/2 months old and wieghs 16lbs. He drinks four bottles a day that are 7 ounces each. If he cries after the afternoon bottle we will offer him 2 more ounces. He eats solids 2xs a day.

I think I will. What time do you give her those bottles and when do you feed her solids? Thank you so much for your input!

My ds is 7.5 months old and is on 3 bottles a day. I had the same problem as you with the amount he was drinking from 4 bottles. He was fed at 7am, 11am, 3pm & 7pm. Most of the time he would drink 4-5oz and then he would only drink 2-3oz at his 11am feeding. I decided to change to 3 bottles to see what he would do. I feed him at 7am, 12pm & 7pm. He drinks 8oz every time which means he's drinking more now than he used to on 4 bottles. He is also on 3 meals a day. It seems to be working and the biggest stretch from 12-7pm he has no problem with. He gets solids at 8am, 2pm & 5pm.

BTW he's a big boy at 20lbs. And yes, 1 lbs a month is a very good weight increase (that's what docs like to see). He had gained 1 lbs a month since he was 4 months old.

Today is the day! :) I'm going to try 3 bottles and see what happens. Thanks DDT for your info. We spoke a while ago about the lack of formula our los were drinking. I like your schedule but Stella is always sleepy about an hour after the 1st bottle (or any bottle) so I put her down for a nap and give her solids around 10 am. I've noticed if I feed solids say an hour before the bottle she doesn't drink as much and if I give her the bottle an hour before feeding solids she is so sleepy rubbing her eyes and again won't eat as much. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this....am I crazy??? I just want to have the same routine everyday...bottle, solid and nap about the same time everyday.

catgiggles- why are you only feeding your ds 2xs a day? Is it so he'll take more formula? I wish my dd would take 7oz 4xs a day! Maybe I should cut back her solids? I've read that formula should still be their main source of nutrition and solids should just compliment it and not take over. My dd loves food and could pretty much care less about formula....4-5ozs every 4 hours is like a snack.
