How Much Baby Food During The Day

my dd is 5 months old, and takes 6oz per feeding, about to increase it since she still seems hungry afterwards, we feed her rice cereal, mix in a bit of formula and fruit in the morning and feed her cereal in the evening with veggies. She eats about every 4 hours. with the cereal she takes a full bottle aferwards. Was wondering, how much cereal and or jarred foods does your baby eat? we've been mixing it in with the cereal but I don't know if we should feed her a jar by itself like in the afternoon. Is there some website out there that address a question like this? Have been looking but all I can find are sites that tell you at what age to introduce foods. thanks.

This is the best one I could find http://www.earthsbest.com/baby_nutrition/feeding_schedule_print.php. My daughter's GI specialist created meal plan for my daughter that I could share with you if you would like. It's catered to her...but it may give you a good general idea. My ped. is VERY STRICT though. I must admit we have not followed it exactly but pretty close. My email is [email protected]

I would be very interested in it. She sees a GI? does she have reflux by any chance? my daughter has silent reflux. i'll drop you an email.

Shanna, my son also has silent reflux and sees a GI specialist. He is 4 months and we had to start solids early as he is a big guy. He is big because he comfort fed int he beginning and grew huge, lol. I just spoke to her about this yesterday because Mason is eating a 1/4 cup prepared cereal (makes almost a full jar) PLUS half a jar of fruit morning and evening and mid-day gets a full jar of veggies. He also drinks 32 ounces and is still hungry. I was concerned I was giving him too much as he only just 4 months, yet he seems so hungry. She told me to keep him at the 32 ounces of formula, not to increase that, but to increase the solids. Even if it means he is eating 2 jars or more at each feed!! She also explained why he is still so hungry after eating solids (I would have thought solids would fill him up more than the formula).....an 8 ounce bottle of formula holds around 120 calories. One jar of baby food is about 30-80 calories, so it is more like a snack. That makes sense. So it is okay to feed her however much makes her happy...even if it's more than a jar. Mason will probably be eating 3 jars 3 times a day by 6 months, lol! Just as long as she is not cutting back on her formula. ;)

Mason's mom right? I'm Linda'smom on the infant reflux site, sure we've posted back and forth! thank you for the info on feeding your guy. think we'll try increasing her formula to 7 oz, see how she takes that and start her on more baby food.

Bonnie, one more question, after he eats his cereal and veggies, does he get a full bottle afterwards or does he wait awhile? and he eats 8oz every feed? big boy!!
