My son is about 2 1/2 months old. It seems like all he does is sleep!!! He'll sleep from 11pm till 7am, eat, then go back to sleep untill 12 noon!!! Then it seems like he sleeps all day aswell, only gets up when he's hungrey!!! Does this sound ok? I'm worried he's not up enough during the day. Today i got him to play on his playyard for about an hour, but then he started crying so i put him in his bouncy chair and he just crashed out again!!! i have a sleep head!!! should i be worried, or call his ped?

Glad to know I am not the only one with a sleepy baby. My DD just turned 3 months old last week and she has spent most of her life sleeping. She sleeps more than she's awake it seems and even after sleeping several hours it will be eat and right back out. Her ped just laughs every time I complain about it and says she is just spoiled to my comfy arms lol. Of course she is wide awake at every Dr visit and puts on a good show for them. Her Dr said as long as she is alert and active when she is awake then there is nothing to worry about. I started writing down my dd sleep times and awake times and noticed a pattern she had formed, so the last 2 weeks we have been working to get her on a different schedule during the day and she seems to be awake more these days. Now she is staying awake 2 or 3 hours and then will take a nap. By late afternoon it's hard to get her to sleep over 20-30 minutes at a time. Everyone says I should enjoy it while it last but I'm ready for her to be awake with only a few short naps.

How long has he been doing this for? He might just be havinga growth spurt. I know that when my dd has one all she does is sleep and eat! I actually enjoy those times and i get a bit of time to myself :o) The other time she sleeps alot is a day or so after she's had her vaccinations, they seem to knock it out of her. If you're really worried about it ask your dr, he/she'll be able to settle your mind.

Thanks ladies! He's been sleeping alot prob the last week or so that i've noticed, maybe it is just a growth spurt, He's always really alert when he is awake, we get comments from everyone about how alert he is for his age, so that calms me down a bit, hehe Funny thing is , now that i mentioned it, he's been away all day now, i think i just jinxed it! hahahahhaha

My ds is 10 weeks old and he sleeps a lot too although not completely through the night yet. Basically he goes to bed at around 10pm after a feeding, gets up at 2pm, eats and sleeps until 6am for another feeding. He might go back to sleep until 8am and gets up for a few hours. After his morning bottle at 9am he takes a long nap from 11-3pm and eats again. He might be up a few hours and wants to sleep more! He isn't awake very much in the daytime and I thought he was sleeping too much too.
