How many naps do you let your babies have during the day and for how long? Do you count waking up at 6 am to eat and going back to sleep from 7:30 to 9:30 a nap? My dd usually takes 4 1/2 hour naps or 2 one hour naps. But this morning she was tired. and slept from 7:30 to 9:30. Thanks a bunch!!

When my baby's at home, she usually does the same thing in the morning. She wakes up to eat at 6:30 then sleeps till about 9:30. then about 2 hours later, she takes a 2 and 1/2 hour nap.She takes her evening nap at about 5 and sleeps till 7:30. She goes to bed for the night sometime between 9:30 and 10.

Oh, I'm sorry, she's 4 and 1/2 months. Do you have your lo on a schedule or did she just kind of start having one on her own?

At this age they should have AT LEAST 14 hours per day of sleep. If she seems to sleep a lot, could also be that she will go through a growth spurt.

That's probably true of mine - she's in 6-9 mo clothes already, the little chunker. I have noticed that she sleeps a little more right before she does something triumphant - like a growth spurt or rolling over or something like that. To be honest, I let her sleep as much as she likes as long as she does the majority of it at night. My baby sitter keeps asking me if she should wake her at a certain time, but I don't see any problem with it. She's a very happy baby, and I wonder if that's partly right.

Hi nic nac ahhh more sleep ??? I was so excited cuz ds slept through the night three nights in a row well it was a fluke and hasn't happen since. Anyway to answer your question ds takes two-three naps a day and will average three hours of sleep at night he sleeps 12 hours with waking STILL for one fedding. He is 7 months but has been on this schedule since around 4.5 months. He sleeps alot like his daddy. Now if only he'd sleep thru the night. Has your daughter gotten better?

oh gosh. this sleep thing is crazy huh. Ginny she is on a schedule. a 4 hour formula feeding schedule and 3 solid meals a day. Her nap schedule isn't as consistent but her last nap is usually at 5 and it's for 1/2 hour. Sometimes she naps 2 hours total and sometimes 3.5. Then at night she sleeps off and on from 8 to 6 waking every three hours. Wirh the waking in the night, she is under 14 hrs as Annette suggested. LisaB, i was hoping the 3 nights of success were not a fluke. My dd is still up at night. I am trying the pick up/put down method and its only been night two so I wanted to make sure she was napping enough. When will it end. :)

It is so frustrating. Not to mention I am a total moron most days due to lack of sleep!!

Funny you asked today ds had a 2 hour nap then an hour and a half and has been sleeping now for over an hour. Growth spurt?? Tired baby!!

nic nac - June 14

LisaB, my dd slept for a total of 3.5 hours so i hope having that 2 hour nap this morning helps her sleep tonight. we will see.

I'll keep my fingersc crossed for you!!!

Hi nic nac! I have a very strict schedule for my 5.5 month old dd. She has 3 naps a day. She wakes up at 7am. Stays up for 2 hours, has a sleep at 9am for anywhere from 1-2 hours, she will be up for 2 hours then down for a nap again, and I just follow that for the day. She can only manage to stay up for two hours in between naps before she starts getting cranky and rubbing her eyes. So this schedule works very well for her and she will have a morning, midday and arvo nap everyday, her naps vary in time but are always for atleast an hour each - some days she will need more sleep. She will go to bed between 6-7pm, depending on when she woke up from her arvo nap! She sleeps all night and will only stir on most nights and I just pop her dummie back in and she keeps right on sleepin! Hope I haven't confused you with all that - so at a minimum she will have 3 hours nap time during the day, but she really needs more than that.

thanks Aussie back. my dd is on a great schedule but i didn't want to mess it up too much by letting her sleep too much.
