My son's doc wasn't to happy with his weight gain in the last 2 months. He is now 15 pounds and 26 inces long. I have been feeding him rice cereal and giving him all the formula that he wants. He doesn't look skiny at all. He is chubby. I'm thinking about getting a new pediatrition.

It sounds to me like he's pretty normal. My daughter is under weight and she weighed 15 pounds when she was 10 months old. Maybe your doctor is only concerned about the last two months and not his weight in general.

Andrew sure sounds about right! My ped. is fine with my son's weight gain, and he's maybe 12.5 lbs. and almost 5 months old. I don't think the actual weight is the big thing to look at - you just have to make sure that they continue to move up the growth curve. Brady started in the 10th percentile, so the fact that he is still in the 10th percentile isn't alarming. Has Andrew slowed some in his growth? What did he weigh at 3 or 4 months? If he is contimually putting on weight and moving up the curve appropriately, I wouldn't worry (and maybe I would find a new ped.). Plus, when babies shoot up in length they may look thinner or drop a percentile in weight for a little while - has Andrew had a growth spurt recently? Good luck and take care.

When he went in for his 2 month check up he was 11 pounds. So he gain some weight. He was only 5 pounds when he was born and he was way below the growth chart. He has been in the 25 percentile for the last few months. He is actually pretty chunky. A lot bigger then my first two. I think I will call around today and find a new pediatrin. Thanks ladies.

At 5 months my ds1 & ds2 weighed 17lbs/26.5in and 18lbs/27.5in. They fell between the 50th-75th percentile. IMO your son's weight sounds fine. Considering he's put on 10lbs in 5 months he obviously has no problem putting on weight. Your doc should be pleased and not making you worry unnecessarily. I agree with Kimmer23 about the weight vs. length. My ds2 is 11.5 months old and weighs about 23.5lbs. But he is very long at about 32in. And because of that he has no rolls on his body. My ds1 who was shorter and weighed 1lb less at that age was a chunky monkey...all rolls.
