I Feel Like He Should Be Bigger

as i posted, we took ds to his 4 month , and the dr. said he was healthy and just perfect. he was born 3 weeks early, so technically considered a premie, but weighed a healthy 7.9 and was 20 1/2 inches long..well on monday, he was 15.12, and 25 inches exactly..he's in the 50-75% for weight and height . however, i feel like he should weigh more. he eats all the time, and is already on cereal, and everyone always tells me what a big baby i have. he's really active, always playing or trying to stand or roll and such, and the dr. told me i have a big baby, but not a fat baby, and he just looked larger because of bone size and muscle. i still just feel like he should be bigger, especially after reading how big alot of other lo's were!

Seems large to me. I don't mean that in a bad, I just certainly don't think you need to worry about him being small. My ds is 8 months old and weighs almost 17 lbs. and he is perfectly healthy....your ds sounds plenty big.

Keegan has his 4 month appointment tomorrow morning. I don't think he'll be as big as your ds is - definitely not as tall, anyway! He was in the 10-25% last month, so who knows where we'll be this month. Your ds sounds like he's doing so well, though, and that's the main thing. Hey, 50-75% makes him above average!!! :)

he seems like the right size to me. :) diesel was just a tiny bit bigger than him at his 4 month checkup, but he was born 2 weeks after my due date and was 8 lbs 11 oz and 21 1/2 in at birth. diesel was a chunky baby.. he's levelling out a lot more now.. getting taller, but not gaining as much weight.

hey mosley12 what did you dr say about solids for your ds? i took mine last week to his 4 month and he was 18.5 lbs and 26 1/4 inches long but mine was 8.8 born. My ped told me to give him cereal 3 times a day as she wanted his milk intake down. He was drinking 40-50 oz a day adn it's been hard iguring out how much to gve him. I am giving him oatmeal cereal as the rice really constipated him. I started out with a few tsp's first as she recommended to see what it would do, well it did nothing. I then went to TBS's and one day it curbed his milk to 40 oz so i though i guess 2 tbs for breakfast, and lunch and 3 tbs for dinner was the ticket. well it was just one day, the next i gave him the same amount and he still drank 47oz's. So yesterday i upped it to 3 for breakfast and lunch and 4 for dinner and then he only drank 33.5, that's not enough. so i have no idea. What is your LO drinking in a day and how much solids are you giving him?

Well, Keegan had his 4 month checkup today.... He was 5 weeks early (5lbs, 1oz at birth), and is now 14lbs, 10oz, and 24.5 inches long. He's still in the 10-25% (5% for his head circ_mference), but the doctor says he's super-healthy and is doing fantastic. He's come such a long way from the little tiny baby he was when he was born! :)

lin7604, ds gets oatmeal in the morning, oatmeal for lunch, than oatmeal and some type of food for dinner. right now we are on green beans, and will be starting sweet potatoes tommorow...he takes roughly 30-35 ounces of formula a day. he also gets 4 ounces of prune/apple juice a day because he has problems with hard little poops, so it just helps soften up a bit on a regular basis.

My son weighs at least 15.5lbs (I weighed him a few weeks ago) & he is 4 months old. He was 8lbs, 7oz at birth & his height at birth was 21 & a quarter inches. People tell me all the time he's huge too.
