Okay, I work 2 days a week and one of the days my dd (she's 11 months) stays at my mil's house. Well, she has been really close to walking lately and I got an email from my sil that they were practicing walking with her and she walked like 5 steps!! I'm happy but I am sooooo sad that I didn't get to see her first steps,my little baby girl is growing up.

Oh I'm so sorry you missed it. Here's what worked for us as I worked when my first ds was a baby. My mom kept him four days a week and we had an agreement that if he did anything new she didn't tell me. This way if he did it for us we always thought it was the first time. Worked great for us.

have them tape record it when they practice because then you will surly see all the firsts. and even if its wasted tape they will probably do something funny anyway and you get to share all those moments with them when they get older too.

We always had the same philosophy. Most babies DO do something infront of other people so don't feel bad. This happens to all of us. I would just think that your in-laws would be tactful enough to not tell you w/o you having to tell them not to tell you.
