I Think Max Has A Yeast Diaper Rash

My poor baby can't catch a break. He has been sick for a month with one thing or another. I have actually managed to keep his bum rash-free thru out rotavirus, allergic reaction, and antibotic-induced diarrhea from the first ear infection. Well we are now contending with another ear infection and the diarrhea from the amoxicillin. His poor butt was rashy three days ago. I kept doing my usual treatment of alternating A&E ointment and Bourdoux's Butt Paste, but it has not made a dent in it - in fact its worse. So I googled yeast diaper rash, and that is definitely what it is. So here's my question. We are snowed in with 12-15 inches of snow and 40mph winds. I dug thru our medicine box and I three different antifungals on hand: Miconazole Nitrate (2%), Clotrimazole (1%), and Terbinafine Hydrochoride (1%). Anybody know if any of these would be acceptable to use on his butt?

When my doc wrote down what to use on my son's yeast infection he had SAID any form of Lotrimin or any feminine yeast infection product, but he WROTE Clomitrazole... so I think that the Clomitrazole should be ok to use.

Thanks! He is already asleep for the night, but I'm sure he will be awake with a dirty diaper in a few hours and I will slather him up then. How many times a day did you use it?

2x/day for a week. It cleared up before that, but the ped said to use it the full week anyway to be sure it was completely cleared up.

Kara, I had the same problem last week, along with the snow and everything. lol. Anyways I went out when I could and bought some Sudocream. It was gone with in a couple days. The stuff is a little more expensive however well worth it!!! If you can get out, maybe try that. Joel was also on Amoxicillin for ear infection due to congestion of RSV. Our poor babies when they give us this stuff. Their b___ts always get the worst of it. (As for the snow, it finally let up a bit, although it was -18c this morning. We got about 4 feet of snow in four days last week. Yuk, I had enough and am ready to live somewhere warmer.!) Take care :)Tamara
