Well not me.... But My DD - oh man something terrible! She has always been very gasy and sometimes its better than others - although we dont change her diet - and she has to put so much time and energy into her bowel movements its rediclous! Every night my DH "poop Jacks" her ( you know pushing their legs up to their tummy and massages her belly) Most of the time she can fart away happily - but sometimes she cries and cries and then farts and cries and farts... I feel so bad for her. She is on formula with a scoop of rice cereal in it. ( without the rice cereal she was eating So much so often and not getting full... it seams she has a VERY high mettabolism, She has had the rice cereal since she was 2 months and it didnt change anything - well other than it seams to hold her a bit longer ) She is 3 months. I have tried gripe water with and without alchole - neither seem to work - the gerber baby gas drops work sometimes.... I am wondering if anyone has tried anything that works? Do you think a tiny bit of prune juice might help? Is she too little still? Or do you think its worth a try? I would also like to start to spoon feed her around 4 months and I am wondering what to start with?? Rice ceral I know but then what? Please if you have any suggestions!! Thanks!

Hi there. My ds was terribly ga__sy and the pedi switched us to soy and it was even worse, and then I switched to the enfamil gentlease and it's like I have a different baby. HE's so much happier. HE used to just scream for a couple hours every night, now he's great. I actually use the generic form of the enfamil. They have a great generic at Target, it's 14.99! And ds has done great on it!! I highly recommend trying it. I love that he doesn't really cry anymore and he's comfortable now. Also, I do give the mylicon gas drops and he is always constipated (has been since 2wks old) and I give him 4 oz of juice every day with a bit of karo syrup in it and he still only goes 1 every 3 days. It's crazy. The juice and karo have really helped soften his stools. It was rock hard before. I felt so bad for him, it was such an ordeal to poop. We tried all the different bottles too and have had the best luck with the playtex dropins, since you can squeeze the air out, they have less gas. That has helped. I wouldn't use the prune juice unless your baby was seriously constipated, it can give their little tummies cramps and increase gas. Pear juice has worked the best for us. Good luck. Gripe water didn't do anything for us either, nothing really worked until we switched to the enfamil gentlease formula. It's for ga__sy, fussy babies. It has partially broken down protiens so it's easier for their little tummy's to digest. LOL! I sound like a commercial, but seriously it has made such a huge improvement for our little guy, it's worth a try.

oh, and if your lo has a tendency toward constipation, you could try the oatmeal cereal instead of the rice, it's less binding.

Thank you so Much!! Wow its so nice just to have someone to relate to - I am going to head out and get some of that - Say - How do you switch them over from one formula to another?

I took 4 days and did it in 1/4's. The first day was 1/4 new formula and 3/4 old, and then every day up it a 1/4 till he was fully switched on the 4th day. He seemed to do well with that. The first time I switched him from similac advance to the soy, I just switched him right over he got so constipated and ga__sy, he didn't poop for like 5 days. It's a good idea to do it gradually. :) Good luck! I hope your dd does better on the new stuff. I can't say enough about it really, it's changed our lives. Garrett was so fussy, he'd just scream bloody murder for about 2 hours from tummy ache and gas- ( I could just hear his stomach gurgling and making loud noises) and he's just 200% better now. Now it's a rarity if he gets ga__sy. I do still give him the gas drops though several times a day just to keep it in check. (I buy target brand baby gas drops too, and they're great.) We've saved lots of money since finding the generic formula. The label compares it to enfamil gentlease and its exactly the same but cheaper.
