Jaundice At 7 Months

My son is 7 months old and is looking a yellow color to me. I know this is called jaundice and the only literature I can find on it is for adults and infants. Can a 7 month old baby be jaundiced? Should I make an appt for him at the docs office or what?! Anyone ever had this problem before or am I being a worrywart?

You can try to get as much sun as possible,or if you want get them to do a blood test for jaundice to be on the safe side.

Always make an appt. with the doc. if you have any concerns. &months...sounds a little old to me but, you never know. Is he eating a lot of carrotts? They can change skin colour:)

Anyone of any age can get jaundice d/t liver problems. But, I think what you're asking is can he have newborn normal jaundice. The answer is no. But, it's true carrots can cause a harmless yellow color, as well as many babies seem to love squash baby food, and much of that also has the beta carotine which causes the harmless yellow color. Be sure to ask your babe's doctor.

Wow! This is an old post. Maybe you have found out something for me? My baby seems very normal and healthy (active, happy and very alert) however he is 7 months old and also is 'jauntice' I have had his biliruben and liver function levels tested. The liver function test came back with levels that are slightly elevated. The doctor told me she was going to consult a pediatric gastrointerologist (sp?) and get back to me. However, we live in MT and there is only one in the entire state! I have been waiting for weeks now with no answers. Any ideas as to what my next step should be?
