Letter From President

I checked my US mail yesterday and in there was a yellow envelope from the White House. The letter was addressed to my dd. Enclsed was a letter from the president that said the following: Welcome to the world!! Your arrival brought great joy to your proud family. Your life symbolizes the promise of tomorrow. Mrs. Bush and I wish you happiness, health, and much love. We send our warmest regards to you and your parents. Sincerely, George W.Bush. Has anyone else ever received this letter? I wonder if we got it because I am a registered republican. Anyhow, I thought it was pretty cool and thought I would share it with all of you.

My husband's grandmother gets Christmas cards from the white house, but I think she sent them one first. I'm not sure. Anyway, congratulations!

My dh is a registered republican...we get cards for Christmas, but not when my LO was born. Could be because I'm not a registered republican...pretty cool though.

I have heard of this. I think you can search it online and request one. Kind of like the letters from Santa thing./

I saw this is a baby magazine when my son was born (2 years ago). The president sent a nice card with his signature, which is now in his baby book. You can request a greeting from the president at this website : http://www.babiesonline.com/president/ (no dashes).

We got one from our govenor and his wife. Not to offend anyone but why is this important to anyone? Really, really I am not trying to offend anyone I just don't get it. It's not like he really writes them or signs them. I just don't understand.

SonyaM~It is just a neat thing to add to a baby book. When they are about my daughters age (5) and above they really think that kind of thing is really cool. So why not do it what is it hurting

SonyaM - April 3

Obviously it's not hurting anyone. I just didn't understand, now I do. My sons aren't that old yet so I wasn't aware they would think that was cool. Thanks for enlightening me!

I understand SonyaM's point even it may be neat for a baby book. Its also really too bad the government spends money on such things when people in the US and around the world are struggling in poverty.

SonyaM - April 3

Well said J!!!

I think it is a wonderful thing that the government allocates what I am sure is a very small amount to acknowledge the birth of a new citizen to this nation. I also have a card I received from the White House congratulating me on my marriage.

SonyaM - April 3

I think there are MUCH better things our gov. can spend OUR money on. I don't need the birth of my child acknowledged by someone I don't know.

Well concidering my dh and I pay taxes also it is the least that they can do.
