Any of you sing to your lo? I thought it might be nice to share our fav. songs/lullabies.

I sing "A you're Adorable" to Gretchen every night It's the song my mom used to sing to me. (Actually, I try to sing to her, but I am truely awful at singing!)

Would you laugh at me if I told you I sang Allman Brothers - Ramblin Man to him at night? He loves it - knocks him right out! (It was the only song I knew the words too). My husband and I are are currently trying to learn something other than rocka bye baby...

I sing 'you are my sunshine' I have sung this right from being preggers. I also sing 'wonderboy' by tenacious d, again I have done since I was pregnant. Not exactly lullabies! I sing 'Hush little baby', 'the farmers in his den' and 'row, row, row your boat' as top three fav lullabie / mursery rhymes.

With my daughter, I had a hard time remebering lullabyes so I sang God Bless America (it was right before the Iraq war and dh was in the Army) How's that for a lullabye??

That's great! I guess I can admit now that the first song I ever sang to Gretchen was Dani California by Red Hot Chili Peppers. She also likes The Zepher Song. Hehehe. :)

When Cooper was really little he loved "Lean on Me", now he loves "You are My Sunshine". Since I was pregnant I've sung "I Never Cry" by Alice Cooper. Whatever I'm listening to at the time I usually sing and alter the words to include Cooper.

My fav is by the Dixie Chicks because it's specifically for a boy ("sweet dreams little man"). It is called "Godspeed Sweet Dreams". I sing it to him and I have a cd of lullabies I got from walmart that he seems to like.

jilliant, I had no clue that was what the song was about. Damn, that is so sad. I think I am gonna pick a new song to sing to him now.

JillianT I was curious and did some internet research and this is what I found. :-) I did a little digging, and found some more info on why Radney Foster wrote this for his son. From an 'Artist Bio' for the Dixie Chicks at Buy.com : GODSPEED (SWEET DREAMS) (words and music by Radney Foster) NATALIE: Radney wrote that song for his son. His wife was moving his three-year-old son to France because she'd met a new guy. He tried to change legislation and stop it but it just couldn't happen. A lot of people that don't read the credits think that I wrote it about my son Slade. I wish I had. Emmylou Harris was on Radney's demo. Usually we do songs completely different from the demo and we like to make them our own, but we pretty much copied his version of that one. Emmylou's is the only guest appearance vocal on the album and her voice comes in like an angel. It gives me chills. We got to play our version for Radney and his son, who was visiting from France at the time, and it was so interesting to see the bond between the two of them. His son still listens to that song every night before he goes to bed, and he's nine now. EMILY: I think for Natalie having a little boy and me having a little boy on the way, this song is very powerful to us. I mean, we're in such mommy mode right now between the nesting and just starting families. This is just one of those sweet songs that we can imagine being able to sing to our children. (That would be Natalie Maines and Emily Robison of the Dixie Chicks).
