My ds is 19 months. For the past month he has been waking in the middle of the night...usually around 1am or so. He screams and arches his back and kicks and tries to hit his head on my headboard(he sleeps in my bed) So last night was really bad. He woke up screaming and kicking and every time he does this it seems like hes not really awake. He always goes right back to sleep and it only last maybe 4 min top. I was looking online last night and i was reading about night terrors. Thats exactly what he has and it really scares me! what do i do. I have to deal with this almost every night and its draining and leaves me tired. I was just wanting to know if anyone deals with this and what do you do? i need all the help i can get. thanks

My first daughter had those. It sucks! The only thing we did was try and minimize any activites right before bed. For about an hour or so before bed, we would read some books and snuggle. At 11 now she sleep walks. Its not as bad as when she was little, she didn't even no what room she was in and would try and use the couch as the toilet. I don't know that there was really anything you can do when they have one except be there and guide them and make sure that he doesn't hurt himself. That would be nice to have him sleeping in the same bed. My daughter was upstairs and we would have to run to get her. they do eventually grow out of it. Sorry I hope this helps a bit. I would just try and have really low key nights about an hour before bed. Tv can put to many things in their head, and playing would just get them wound. Take care :)Tamara
