My ds is 19 months. For the past month he has been waking in the middle of the night...usually around 1am or so. He screams and arches his back and kicks and tries to hit his head on my headboard(he sleeps in my bed) So last night was really bad. He woke up screaming and kicking and every time he does this it seems like hes not really awake. He always goes right back to sleep and it only last maybe 4 min top. I was looking online last night and i was reading about night terrors. Thats exactly what he has and it really scares me! what do i do. I have to deal with this almost every night and its draining and leaves me tired. I was just wanting to know if anyone deals with this and what do you do? i need all the help i can get. thanks

My sis had Night Terrors, just like you describe, she woke up screaming but wasn't really awake. The only thing my parents could do was make sure she was awake and put her back to bed. She grew out of it….Sorry I can't help anymore….My dd was having bad dreams. She remembered them though and we were able to talk about them in the day time and tell her they weren't real. She now "Shoots" the "Algys" and "Gooses" that come in her room at night and don't get us up anymore. However with Night Terrors, the child usually has no clue that they are upset. Maybe talk to his doctor. Maybe there is something he or she can sugest.

My oldest son had night terrors about that age. It was awful but luckily he outgrew them. He would run around the house like he was crazy. It was weird.
