h__lo, just have a few questions as to what your 1 year olds are up to? at my sons 1 year check up the health nurse seemed concerned that my ds couldn't bend down with his knees yet. When he bends over to pick something up he keeps his legs straight & looks a bit funny. He also never crawled but can now just creep along on his tummy. Other than that he is pretty good, he started walking at 9 months, says about 5 words, self feeds finger foods & tries with a spoon (still messy),he can point to things, kick a ball also dribble the ball around the house, understands simple comands etc.He eats & sleeps well & is a very happy baby except when is is put on his tummy.anyway just wondering if this sounds typical or should i get a second opinion.thanks

I thought it was considered normal for a child to skip crawling and go directly to walking. My niece did this. Perhaps your health nurse's concern is that your son doesn't seem to be bending his legs (which is why he isn't crawling properly or bending his legs to pick things up.) Just guessing here but perhaps this is an indication of somethign like tight ligaments or fused joints. Just speculating and guessing as I have no idea.
