How exciting and sad-our babies are gonna be one soon! I noticed a lot of people on here have babies that just turned or about to turn one. Just wondering what you all are doing to celebrate? We are having a smallish family get together with roast beef sandwiches and stuff. Nothing major, stinks that the weather is so cold here, I would love to have a huge outdoor bash!

My son just turned one on 2/28. We had a small pizza party the day of his bday with a few friends. The weekend after we had some more friends & relatives. I ordered a big hero & salads & cake of course. The kids had a blast! When will your LO turn one Ry?

My dd will be 1 on April 27th. I have a smallish family too. The weather will not be warm enough to do an outside party. I also feel a bit awkward about having a big party ~~ I mean, is it more for dd or me?!?! I am conflicted. She won't have a clue what's going on.... I would like to hear some of your ideas though..... I will probably just sit there and cry that my baby's gone LOL!!!

Krnj, that is a good idea to do a friends then a family party. We have a lot of friends with kids and friends that just love her and we also have a good size family and my house is not that big! I am going to consider that. Anyone doing a theme? Isabel will be 1 on March 30th tear :(

Ssmith, I know what you mean about the party being more for us. I just figure we'd make a big stink out of her first bday cause its a big deal, then not so much after that. I will probably be in a corner crying though anyways lol.

My dd will be 1 on April 11th. We will just be having a small party with about 8 people. The theme will be pink and white hearts,so I'll make a big heart shaped cake for all the grown ups and I'll makea little heart shaped cupcake for dd. I'm not sure what actvities we should do?? maybe just gaze lovingly at dd...lol jk.

We don't have a big house but we had around 30 people. All the kids were in my sons' room with the toys & they had a blast! I'm psyched because my next sons' bday will be in July so that means bbqs outside! lol I still can't believe he's a year!!

Eliz - our babies have the same birthdate! My ds will be 1 on 4/11 too. I've debated the big bash vs family only too and we've decided on the family only part. Mainly b/c our ds won't really appreciate a big bash this year, but next year we'll do something for him when he knows he is the center of attention. I'm thinking of doing a bunny theme just because his b-day is 3 days after and its a good excuse to buy pottery barn's easter linens.

My dd turned one on Jan 26, 2006. We had a family party in Mardi Gras style. It was awesome. Something different. I made Italian Roast beef and potato wedges.

Lchan-- Wow! that's so cool, they have the same b-day. it's almost a month away! I can't believe it. The bunny theme sounds cute too!

Gretchen still has a few months, she'll turn 1 in July, but I'm already planning! It'll be small though, like 8-12 people, and the only kids will be my two cousins(ages 9 and 5yrs old). I think I'm just going to get a Subway platter. We're going to do an undersea theme (same as her nursery) and I'm going to make a confetti cake. I've also been thinking about ordering some custom m&m's in aqua and pink or purple with "Gretchen is 1" and the date on'em. :)

Lchan - March 8

I love the custom M&M's idea.

We are having a family bash. aaron will be 1 on March 25 :( my husband is one of 8 kids so needless to say a family bash is usually like 30 people. LOL. Thank God we have a rec room!! Ry....you'll be able to aprreciate this - my husband is polish so I have to do the lazy pierogi and the roast beef on weck and the smoked AND fresh polish sausage and of course the cheesy potatoes. My FIL asked for cabbage rolls too this year. Man, everytime one of our kids has a bday its a two day cooking event!!! LOL...hope the Sabres aren't playing on the 24th (the day of his party) or they'll never leave!!!!

I forgot to add the theme is firetrucks.
