OT I Feel Like I Am Such An Oddball

On this forum and another I visit, I have been feeling like such an oddball. I've never heard of Seven jeans or Kate Spade handbags. I don't like manicures, spas, etc. and would seriously never spend $100 on my hair, and would never get a massage. I don't know, or care to know anything about celebrities, musicians, etc. I own about 10 cds, with my last purchase being about 5 yrs ago. I'm sure I could go on, but I am getting depressed just typing this, lol. Am I weird - is there something wrong with me????

psh i wish i was like you...do you know how much money i would save!

sahmof3 - February 12

If you're weird I am, too lol. I have no idea what any of the above are, either... possibly I should after 32 years on the planet, but I don't. Never been to a spa... go to the hair salon maybe 1-2X/year... and have never had any type of wax done "down there" to boot. Ha! I have owned a few CDs over the years, but no CD player until a few months ago when my brother gave me his when he bought a new one lol (except my computer's CD player, of course, which was also my DVD player until the after- Christmas sales this year). I live out in the country where no one else seems to know or care about these things, either, so it rarely crosses my mind. I also don't even care to do those things... well, spa, MAYBE... but not the rest.... so you are not alone ;-)

You are not the only one. I would never be able to afford designer clothes, go to spas or the salon on a regular basis and even if I did have the money I would rather spend it on something more important. I do love my music though but now all that has been on my cd player lately is lullabies. All the pretty little horses............I AM LOSING IT! :-)

Sign me up for the "oddball" club! I would like to run for an office if we get it organized. Vice-President or Secretary would suit me!

sahmof3 - February 12

Kellens mom... wasn't it you who won an archery or riflery compet_tion? I say you can have whatever office you want ;-)

I am the same way. Never heard of Seven Jeans at all and I've only heard of the Kate Spade handbags on here (someone had an addiction to them, but I can't remember who...shoot, that would be good for the 'how well...' thread if I could remember....) anyways, I've never had a manicure or day at the spa. I never buy designer clothes or anything else unless I get it at the Goodwill super cheap. I like clothes and all, but I won't spend a fortune on them. I'm not up on all the celebrity gossip either other than what you can't help but hear on the news. As far as cd's, the last time I actually bought cd's they were Christmas music and the last cd I aquired period was from 106.9 FM (radio station)...it was a freebie for making a donation. The only music I listen to is Christian, so when people are talking about the latest hit songs and the hottest groups I am totally out of the loop. As far as ma__sages, I would like one, but I won't pay for it....lol. After reading my post I don't know if I'm odd or cheap!

It was me that had the addiction to Kate Spade, Rabbits..lol. And although I do like all of the things Shea mentioned (with the exception of CDs - I'm an iPod gal...) I don't find it strange when other women don't. It what makes us different - its what will make our kids different. And who wants to grow up to be best friends with or marry someone that is exactly the same as they are? So even if it does make you and oddball or weird (or cheap, haha...) - embrace it.

Rabbits07 - I definetely admit i'm CHEAP.. I will not spend money on anything.. Last time I got a pair of shoes was over a year ago, I haven't heard of those designers either.. CD's.. Ummmm, I make my own, but even that was probably a year ago. The only cd that I have bought in the last 5 years is Alicia Keys, only cuz I support her music. My limit for clothes, if an item costs more than $20 I am not getting it.. My friend took me for a manicure for my bday last year, I felt so weird and guilty because she spent $50 bucks on it, while I liked the way it looked, it just wasn't me. I got couple of ma__sages, only cuz i was in a car accident and it helped my back, but the insurance company paid it.. haha.. YUP, I'm cheap and admit it, but also, I have no interest in those things either.. but for my cheapness, my husband makes up in spending $ on golf and golf items.. Aaaaargh.

It was archery. Not to worry though, I am often armed...but not dangerous. I bite my nails and have often wondered what I would do with fake nails. I can keep the dirt out of my stubby nails...let alone out of long pretty ones. My hair gets cut roughly every 6 weeks by "Kevin" for $15. And I get the fine task of coloring my own gray (there is WAY too much of it!) I could careless about who is who and what is what. I am definately not in the know about celebritys. They are just people with money. By the way, I am getting a ma__sage...it was a Christmas present from my husband. I have only had one other one (complements of the hospital after dd was born). One more thing...hand bag...what's that? I use a backpack for my dd's and my stuff. That way my hands are free if necessary

i got spoiled by ma__sages when i was in high school. my best friends mom is a professional ma__suese ( she ma__saged keith urban!) atleast 3 times a week aftr practice i would go and get one from her, and she didnt charge me..so now i have to have them atleast once a month. that and getting my nails ad hair done is me time

kellens mom - February 12

That was supposed to say "can't" keep the dirt from my stubby nails. :0)

kellens mom - February 12

Shea, Are you feeling less odd yet?

Shea - February 12

Well I'm glad I'm not alone - I feel alot better! I often wonder if I'm cheap, probably am. The salon/spa thing is weird - I just don't like people touching me that I don't know. I do break down and get a haircut - but I wear my hair long and so not that often. I had to get my hair done in an updo at a day spa place for a wedding I was in (all of the girls were getting it done there) and the stylist complimented my color/highlights - she had to laugh when I told her I did it myself with that "color expert" out of a box. Also the idea of waxing makes me cringe. And some of these people aren't going to have any eyebrows left if they keep going. I wish I was brave enough to wax other areas, but a razor will have to do. I love clothes and shoes and I work in a professional environment so I do spend $$, but I almost never pay full price.

See Mosley12...I don't even know who Keith Urban is...Kellens mom I do feel less odd, thanks!

mosley12 - February 12

Emily - February 12

Ha, can I join your club? I hate cleb talk and I have never heard of any of the things you metnioned. I do like music though, but I dont buy the cds I just listen to them on the radio (Its free) and see the videos on CMT (I am a country music gal, and Keith Urban is worth looking into....and the last time I got my hai cut, my mom did it for nothing. The time before that, I paid 8 dollars......
