Dh and I are considering a trip to Australia in the future. I was just wondering if someone could give me information on the Australian Zoo. Right now Terri Irwin and her daughter are here in the US being ambassadors for the country. I would love to see their zoo and many other things. Also, just out of curiosity, what do most Australians thing about Bindi Sue? I think she is such a cute, mature, well balanced kid. She seems like a prodigy to me in many ways. She sure seems to be a great little girl.

well i currently live in usa but im from the sunshine coast - where the australia zoo is.... i havent been there since steve died but i went there when i visited home back in may last year... its really fun and there is soo much to look at... they have crocodile presentations eg feeding etc and so many australian animals, and the zoo employees are always walking around holding them so you can pat them, getyour photo taken with them etc ( koalas, snakes, lizards etc)... its definately worth going. There is also alot to do in the area, your best bet would be to stay at a hotel on the beach in a town called Mooloolaba - its about 20 mins from the zoo (the zoo is kinda in the middle of nowhere in a tiny town called beerwah).... anyways im sure if you look up mooloolaba or the sunshine coast it will tell you lots about it.

Tatiana did a great job at giving some info. Have you checked out the site australiazoo.com.au - that should tell you everything you need to know. I went a couple of years ago and it was excellent, there are so many animals and presentations to keep you occupied. I would also visit dreamworld, seaworld and movieworld on the gold coast. I think Bindi is such a strong spirited girl and she will do a great job following in her fathers footsteps as well as being a role model for our young aussies. Steve was a true Australian icon and I was deeply saddened when he died.

Hey i live just up the road from it and im pretty sure that during the school holidays every sunday Bindi does her 'croc show" dancing and all that jazz. My hubby is an electrician and has wired up all the new exhibits and lemur pens and elephant yards (tigers too). There is HEAPs of new things and plenty to do around the coast. What time of year are you planning on coming? i can get you any info you are after. My email is akmac(at)aapt.net.au dont hesitate to contact me. :) Also Im a swimming teacher and Bindi used to come to us for swimming lessons and i think even though she is somewhat overexposed she is a cute kid. She never thought she was any better than any of the other kids. Her mum was pregnant with Robert then and she seemed nice too (very quiet believe it or not)

Thanks for all the info. We are not sure when we are going to go. Actually that would be another question. What is the best time of year to go there?

tatiana - January 13

the best time of the year to go would depend on how well you can handle the heat.... if you go in the middle of summer, expect it to be up to 115 degrees and very humid. (but apparently this summer hasnt been too awful).. i would recommend going in either spring or fall cos the temperature should be just right... maybe avoid feb because thats the rainy season - also remember the seasons in australia are the opposite of what they are here.. (eg when its summer here its winter there). It never gets very cold there tho, even in winter so dont worry about that.

hi, i would say around september/october is a good time of year weather wise.the zoo is great, i wouldn't recomend going in the school holidays though as it can get really crowded.there is also dreamworld, seaworld, wet & wild, movie world & much more on the coast so have a look if you do come down. i think bindi is wonderful, i remember when steve died i just cried for ages. i think it had a really stong impact on alot of australians. he will be missed.
