OT Immaculate Conception

(I know this is OT for this forum, but everyone here is SO understanding and awesome, I couldnt help but ask!) Ok everyone.. break out your calendars for this one, because I have NO IDEA when or how I got pregnant. January 5th-9th I had a really heavy period. January 10th-12th, scant brown discharge. I should have ovulated around the 17th, 18th, 19th. I had s_x, with a condom on the 17th. I had a positive urine pregnancy test on the 28th (was going for an xray and had to take a test to be sure.) Today, I had my dating ultrasound, and its putting me at 4-5 weeks. So when the heck did I get pregnant?!?! Has anyone else had problems figuring out just when exactly they got pregnant?

maybe the condom didn't work. they aren't 100% effective. congratulations by the way

Well, the 4-5 weeks seems to hold up the 17th as your conception date. My guess is a faulty condom?? Hope you get it all straightened out !

Okay going by a regular 28 day cycle, your supected o dates are correct. So it is probably the s_x on the 17thj although with a condom that got you pregnant. They date a pregnancy from the first day of your last period, not conception date. So when they say you are 4 weeks your baby has only been conceived about 2 weeks ago. They do this for several reasons. Not all woman know when they concieved (as you don’t for sure) but most know the last time they had a period. So when they say you are 4-5 weeks on the u/s, that would be correct, it would put your conception at about two-three weeks ago around your supected ovulation. Congrats too!

Sounded like the 17th is when you got pregnant.

Like Emily said, they date from the first day of your last period....even u/s estimates are based on dates that are considered average for fetuses dated that way. Like the others said I would say you had a dud condom....that happens sometimes I hear.

My first pregnancy was a "condom baby". It can happen ;-)
