My friend has a newborn, he is 7 weeks. He is a very hungry baby, drinks about 4-5 ounces 6 times a day (every 4 hours). She is worried that this is too much, I said I would ask all you wonderful ladies because you are all so helpful!!!! Thanks a bunch!!!!!

IMO, I dont think you can over feed a baby that young. If he's hungry then feed him. Some babies just like to eat more than others. It sounds fine to me.

sounds fine to me as well.

My ds ate about 3-4oz every 3 hours, so I think that is pretty normal. He's 12wk now and still eats the same amount.

Nope not over feeding. Gretchen was taking about 3-4 oz every 2 1/2 - 3 hours around that age. Sounds perfect and healthy to me!

mason overfed at that age. He had reflux and the nilk soothed his burning throat. BUT, he wa also a screaming-non-stop baby due to the pain. If her little one is happy and not screaming all day long, then I would say it is fine.

The rule of thumb is 2.5oz for every pound the baby weighs.
