Penaten Vs Zincofax Any Preferences

Hi all! Our daughter is due in 10 days and we're doing our last minute "get stuff together" shopping trips. As for diaper creams, I was raised with penaten and planned on using it but have a freind who swears by zincofax. Do any of you have a preference to one vs the other? What makes it better? Thanks!

I've never heard of either of those, but I'm guessing the active ingredient in the Zincofax is zinc oxide. Zinc Oxide is the active ingredient in the popular diaper cream Desitin and many others. It's purpose is listed as being a skin protectant, but my baby's pediatrician said it also 'dries up' the rash.

ok, so now I have a dumb question!! Do you put diaper vream on every time you change a diaper? (I think you do but...) THANKS!

I don't unless he needs it. If I see any redness I put a bit on. I tend to put it on before his last diaper too, but mainly because he sleeps 12 hours at night. Some babies are more prone to rashes though. It just depends on how your LO is.

I use the diaper creams when my ds has a rash..but I started using vaseline in between diaper changes when he doesn't have a rash. He is very prone to rash and I discovered quickly that using the diaper cream even when he was clear was getting expensive. Vaseline provides that needed wetness barrier and you can get a huge jar of it for next to nothing. (I still prefer the creams for rash, though)
