Peppermint For Colic

Has anyone heard of using a few drops of peppermint extract in a bottle of water for colic? Is it safe? I was using gripe water but it's much more expensive than a bottle of peppermint.

my mil uses it on her other grandbaby, except she just lets them suck on a peppermint stick or dissolves it in water. she says it works.

I've always been told not to use it. I also found this on the "kellymom" site..."Peppermint oil and tea can be dangerous if given directly to babies. "

my mil did it with my first daughter. Got hot water and put a peppermint in it and then let it cool off. Did it for my daughter when she had a belly ache and it worked.

What is the kellymon site and why is it dangerous? I dissolved a peppermint lifesaver in water and used it last night and it worked wonders

The only thing I would worry about is sometimes if you have heartburn, which reflux could be the cause of colic, peppermint sometimes makes it worse, so I don't think I would use it. Plus the gripe water has more stuff in it.

I did this for Ellie when she had colic. The first time it was to strong so make sure to just use a tiny drop because the smell can get really strong where they wont drink it. I found it worked. good luck

http://www.kellymom.com/index.html (take out any dashes) I'm not sure what they mean by dangerous. It seems to be the oil and tea, according to them. I was just told it's not good to, but not "dangerous", so I have no idea.
