PLEASE Help Losing My Mind

I'm going to call my ped about this tomorrow but I know sometimes mommas know best. For the last several weeks Brody (6 months old) is only taking 2 ten minute naps per day. It's a huge struggle to get him to go down for a nap and when he FINALLY falls asleep, he's up and crying again within 10 minutes. By the time the late afternoon rolls around I can't even play with him because all he wants to do is whine and rub his eyes, but he won't sleep!! It's making us both miserable. He sleeps great all through the night but gets up early. Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions?? His crankiness is making me cranky and I know he's not getting enough sleep!!

Is he teething? My ds got his first bottom teeth around 6 mo and boy was be cranky. I gave him motrin in the day and at night before bed. He might be going thru a growth spurt - is he trying to master something new...crawling? rolling over? Sometimes they get excited about new things and cant sleep. How long do you let him cry before picking him up? I let my 9 mo old ds fuss and whine, cry for about 10 minutes and then go check on him. When mom does not get a break all day --baby not napping -- it is enough to make you nuts!!! I feel for you!!

waiting100 nice response to her post. Reading your words,I swore I was reading a Rabbits07 post. I am sure we have learned alot from her. I have nothing else to add. Hope you figure out the sleep problem though.

lisastar9-what the hell are you talking about? Nice response--are you being sarcastic or truly being a b___h - i was giving feedback to her question---you must be bored today--go find something to do.

OK-lisastar--did i take your comment the wrong way--I hope so--I keep reading it over and over and perhaps I took it the wrong way--if i did take it the wrong way--sorry for the rude comment.

I am totally confused about the teething thing....he is drooling a lot and biting on everything he can get his hands on, but he's been doing that for a few months and at his 6 month checkup the doctor said she didn't feel any. He is just the past couple of days finally starting to sit unsupported (Yay!)...but I just can't figure it out. I try to a great environment for his naps (no lights, keep the house very quiet) so I just can't figure out what is triggering him to wake up after 10 or 15 minutes. Thanks guys, keep the advice coming if you have any!

well, my dd sleeps better with noise... she is only 2 months, but it took me a while to find out her "ultimate sleep situation" which seems to be the fisher price aquarium on the side of her crib, a nice nightlight, and (if daytime) the window shade open a crack. she likes the noise, likes a little bit of light... wierd to me, but hey, she's got her own ideas! i would just try different options-music, no music, something to look at, or not, a little light, lots of light, no light... just play with it a little bit... when my dd wouldnt yet sleep in her crib, i drove her around the block a few times, get her to sleep in her carrier and just left her in the carrier in the bedroom for a while, then she got used to it... good luck!

Hi. I don't have any advice. Just sympathy. Sorry and I hope it gets better soon. Waiting100, Lisastar9 was being genuine there, Rabbits07 usually has quite good and helpful responses. Don't worry. This forum can be rough sometimes because people do get mean over little things. Have a good night everyone.

Thank you ladies for all the advice. We have tried lullaby CD, no lullaby CD, fan noise, No fan noise...turtle aquarium on the side of his crib, star projector that projects onto the ceiling, mobile. We've also tried complete silence. I guess we're just hopeless..LOL. I will see what ped has to say about it tomorrow. He used to be such a good napper...URGH!!!

Max has been doing the same thing. I know this is probably an equally bad habit, but I let him lay in my bed and watch Cartoon Network. That way he doesn't think i am making him take a nap. Of course he falls asleep though. If they TV is on he will sleep for about an hour. I would prefer that he went back to his 2 hour naps, but I will take what I can get! :)

Kara I must admit I have gotten so desperate that I actually haven't bothered to even make him lay down a couple of times and let him pa__s out in his bouncy chair watching cartoons...LOL. I'll probably get attacked for that, but oh well. Only did it a few times though because it resulted in the same d__n 10 minute nap as everything else does. An hour nap--color me jealous!
