Pulling On Ear

Hi! My daughter (5.5M) has been pulling on her right ear. Sometimes when she does it she is just touching her hair, (which is finally coming in) so I thought it was maybe a play thing. She is not at all cranky or crying. I am pretty sure she is teething, so I do not know if the is related. Anyways, I would not have been concerned but last night I noticed she was tugging it in her sleep occasionally. Could she have an ear infection with no other symtoms?

I had one son that I could always tell when he was getting an ear infection because he would start tugging at his ear, but then another one of my son's just always liked playing with his ear. It's really hard to tell. If she is not cranky or crying and doesn't have a temperature I wouldn't head off to the doctor's office just yet. Also, if she has been doing it for a while then it most likely isn't an infection.

Thanks for the response! She has been doing it for about 3 days now. But there is no temp, runny nose or crankiness.

My daughter played with her ears too right about 5-6 months. I had the pediatrician check them but he said she was just playing.

Sarah does this and the nurse said she is "finding" her ears and is trying to figure out what these things on the side of her head are.
