IF you understand the question, lol. Ok here is the thing, my ds was having 2 bottles a day, one when he first wakes up and one before bed. The rest was in a sippy up during the day and would be either milk, water or juice. I have transitioned him to a cup forthe am one when he akes up and still gets a bottle at bedtime so far. SO when do i stop giving him the am cup when he wakes? I always gave him milk as soon as he woke and then about 1hr-1,5hrs later we would have breakfast. so eg) wake at 7am, cup of milk and then breakfast at 8:30-9am. should i keep giving this am cup of milk till no longer wants it? or do i just replace it with breakfast when he wakes up with a smaller amount of milk in a cup with his breakfast? and then later in the am offer a snack and another small cup of milk? He normally doesn't seem to eat snacks during the day as the he doesn't eat at meal time and doesn't seem to want anything before that time. confused on what to do?

lin, my dd does exactly the same thing (shes 14 mos). same schedule and eveything. my ped told me that we shouldn't worry about stopping the bottle until 18 mos. I'm not sure about the before bed bottle though. my dd loves her milk and knows that she gets a bath, bottle and bed. I think that the bottle in the morning is ok for a while as they are probably really thirsty when the get up (I know I am, lol). I know I didnt really give you an answer, sorry. Maybe someone can give some input.

thanks, when we took our ds to the ped for his one year appt she told us he should be off the bottle at 1 year. She asked how much he drinks and if it is in a bottle and cup. So i told her he gets a bottle in the am usually 7 or 8 oz and then all day is water or juice froma cup, except i give a few oz's at lunch in a cup of milk but he hardly drinks it. Then a bottle before bed usually 8oz. she said that she wants him off soon, and since we are going to mexico in Jan, she said he should be off the bottle def before the trip. Talk about pressure! I am working on the am one and he has been fine with it so far, no fuss unmless he sees a nbottle somewhere in the house. So i have to make sure after bedtime i have no evidence of a bottle anywhere. I am not stressing out on the pm one yet, even though the trip is coming up as he will be in a strange environment and i think it might help him relax sleeping in a different place and bed.
