K here is my scenero: my ds is 3 months and 17 lbs, he sometimes sleeps thought the night but most times he still wake once or twice for feedings. If it is twice it's 1 and 5 am ,approx and if once it's around 4-4:30. He goes to bed inbetween 7:30 and 9 depending on when his last nap ended. He sleeps every 1.5-2hrs during the day but only for 30-60 min and eats every 2 hrs 5-6 oz. During the night he will eat a 6 oz bottle. My questions i why can he sometimes seem to go all night and othr still need 2 feedings? HOw do i know when i can elimanate those feedings and by how much at a time? I would think that he will wake more as his belly isn't full enough. HOw do i go about putting less oz's in those bottles and over what time peroid? Sorry for all teh q's i'm confused. FTM

oh i shoul mention that i do try to pat and shush or the paci. sometimes the paci will work but it usually will only give me a extra 30 min then he is freaking and hysterical crying his hungry cry. He never seems to settle himself and fall abck to sleep on his own if i let him cry for a bit, he gets more worked up and upset.

he sounds like my ds, who would eat constantly and than awake 2 times a night. maybe you should talk to your dr about cereal? my ds was put on it, and we made it very very thin and soupy for in his bottle, and a few days ago he started eating it thicker from a bowl. now he sleeps about 7-8 hours at a time

I don't have very good advice for you. I continued to feed my son at night until he was around 6 months. He is 8 months now and still does not sleep through the night. I know that some people put less and less ounces in the bottle at night until eventually there is hardly anything in the bottle and then the baby does not wake up at all. I b___stfeed so that did not work for me :) Good luck!

First are you b___stfeeding or formula feeding? I dont want to a__sume, but sounds like your are formula feeding. The reason I ask is because, when b___stfeed babies they digest the b___stmilk faster than formula, hence, eating more often. Ok, just want to say check with you Ped first at your next checkup, I am a__suming at 4months?? Anyways, I can tell you what I did with my son, who was formula fed since 3months.. At 4 months I weaned him from his 200am feeding. He was taking 6 oz at that time. So for a week I did 5oz, at his norm 2 am feeding. Then after about 4-5 days I did 4oz, then the following week 3 oz, then 2 oz and so on, until he was only taking a paci when he woke up, and would then fall right to sleep. It worked liked a charm. Make sure he is getting enought during the day and try to wean if he is ready. LIke I said, check with your Ped, to see if your LO is ready. Ethan, who is now 1 years old has been sleeping from 8:30pm-7am straight with no wakings, since he was weaned off. I hope this helps.
