To those of you who are vaccinating but not following traditional guidelines, are you going to do chicken pox vax? I thought I was definitely "NO" on it, since I know several LO that got the vax and get one or two blisters everytime they are exposed and have to miss a couple days of school each time. I was visting with a friend of mine who was home for the holidays who is a nurse pract_tioner/midwife (and mommy of a 9mo old) who delivers at large childrens. She is really a minimalist when it comes to medical care and vaccines and she said that they are doing the chicken pox vax. She said more children are getting them in their espogus and lungs in the last 10 years than ever before. She said that two children have died this year at the hospital from the pox getting in their lungs. Now I don't know what to do....

I have my son on a delayed schedule and AM getting him the chicken pox vac. For the reason that there have been alot more children dying from it. ITs not worth taking a chance. If it was a just-to-spare-the-annoyance-and-pain vaccine i would not do it but with the amount of kids getting them in their lungs, its not worth not doing to to me..

We do delayed...I had not planned on doing the pox, but hadn't heard that either....I'll have to do some more research:-( Thanks, Kara. (I meant that sincerely, not sarcastically....lol)
