Questions About My 10 Week Old Son

I just had a couple of questions for you seasoned mommies out there... First Question: my son had his 2 month vaccinations a few days ago and since then has been pooping 8-9 times a day. Now, he usually poops 1-2 times every second day. is this a side effect? Has anyone else had this happen? Second question: My son is almost 10 weeks old, and has already doubled his birthweight ( was 7 pounds 2 oz at birth, now weighs 13.7 and he's exclusively br___tfed) should I be supplementing him with anything? I would think I shouldn't mess with success, but maybe he needs more?

Oh yeah, his poop is very runny, but still normal mustardy color.

Your baby will have less bowel movements from now on, it is NOT a side effect of the vaccination, don´t worry even if he skips a couple days as long as he has appet_te and doesn´t seem uncomfortable.

Sorry I guess I worded that wrong, he USUALLY poops infrequently like every second day, but since the vaccinations he's been pooping ALOT , really runny...

My ds is 10 weeks also. I just read the info sheets we got when he got his shots and it doesn't mention that as a side effect....but that doesn't mean it isn't. As far as supplementing....if you mean with formula you can if you want to , but it's just a choice and not required just because he's almost doubled his birth weight. Breast milk gives him all that he needs. If you mean with cereal or other solids, 10 weeks is really kind of early for that. I'd ask his pedi before introducing any solids. Also, if you think his bm's are diarrhea and not just frequent normal bm's I would call the pedi just to check on his opinion.

Breastfeeding is going great... it's every hour on the hour, but it's great. He just seems so hungry. I would prefer to only b___stfeed. He has also grown 5 inches in height, I guess my body will always adjust to his needs, right? There are no limits to how much milk I can make for him...

I'm not b___stfeeding, but all of my friends have so I am familiar with the norm. However, I would ask some bf moms about the every hour feeding, that seems a bit excessive. From what my friends have said, they LO's usually nurse every 2-3 hours. I would just check with bf mom's or a lactation consultant because maybe he's not getting enough during the previous sitting...I mean maybe he's not nursing long enough to get full. I know there's a way to do it, but I'm not that familiar...I think it could be the milk that comes out in the end has more fat or something like that. Check out the b___stfeeding forum and see if you can get some good hints. Glad to hear he is nursing, that's the most important thing.

On nights when I go out ( which I'm sure is the same for all of you: never) my mother has babysat, and he takes 4 oz at at time of expressed milk and still eats every 1.5 hours, he is definately getting enough hindmilk, I do have an overactive let-down as well... I let him eat until he pushes my nipple out with his tongue and won't accept it back. He sleeps through the night, so I wonder if he eats so much during the day to make up for the very few nighttime feedings . I do suspect as well the manipulative little runt is using the b___by as a sleep aid. The past month or so, he almost always falls asleep at the b___st. Any tips on how to nip that habit in the bud?
