Rash Or What

I noticed the other day when I was just rubbing James back that it felt bumpy, so upon closer inspection I saw that there are many many pinpoint sized bumps on his back and chest. They are pretty much the same color as his skin...and I am wondering what they could be. I'm not thinking allergic reaction because I've heard that tends to be a red rash on the face...we were thinking maybe sweat/heat rash? He does sweat buckets (leaves puddles in my elbow bend when I hold him sleeping) Any ideas welcome....

Perhaps roseola? Has he had a mild fever? My dd got it this summer and acted perfectly normal except for a mild fever and a bumpy, slightly red rash on her torso. I also noticed that if I put baby oil on her skin when it was warm she would get a similar rash. Not sure how applicable that is for this time of year, but you never know.

Might be excema (SP)...very common in newborns/babies.

He hasn't had any fever at all...and though excema runs in the family I am doubting that's it because his skin doesn't look irritated at all. At a glance you wouldn't notice the bumps were there! He's also 9.5 months old if that helps anyone....I looked on the web and in my health books, and theres nothing I can see that has a description that matches.
