Ratio Of Rice To Food

Hello girls! For those of you who have started solids, what is the ratio of rice ( or other cereal) to baby food that you feed your lo? I usually do half and half, but my ds is much more interested in the fruits and veggies. Also, do you ever mix the 2 together? Just wondering what everyone else is doing!

Hey Jen! For breakfast I mix two scoops of cereal (formula scoop) to two ounces of formula and about half a jar of fruit. If we mix the veggie with it for dinner we do the same combo. I hope this helps. By mixing the two together, do you mean the fruit and veggie? If so, no I don't.

Hee hee! No, I meant mixing either the fruit OR the veggie with the cereal. Man, fruits and veggies mixed together would be extra gross ( as if it isn't bad enough, right?) Thanks for the response!

HA! I was hoping that wasn't what you meant!!!

Actually, adding fruits to veggies sometimes makes a fussy eater...as gross as that sounds. lol gerber also makes an apple/carrot juice....gross!............Sonya, I use those scoops too, how much does a scoop hold? Do you know?.Jen, I usually do half and half. 3 scoops makes almost a small jar which is what I usse of cereal. For cereal, I mix my own....Mason gets constipated so I use a whole bos of oatmeal (more laxative plus he likes that one better) and then half a box each of rice and barley. I half those split dishes so I put cereal on one side and a jar of fruit on the other. I usually mix about half a jar of fruit in with the cereal (prunes, applesauce, pears, whatever...Mason isn't picky). Then I give him the other half as a dessert after sincehe loves fruit so much.

Bonnie, I don't know how much the scoop is in weight or ounces??? Not sure. I started using it because I wanted something easier to measure equal amounts of cereal to formula so it wasn't such a guessing game. It also helps if others feed your lo so they know how much to give.
